This is my first time using a Ring indoor camera or any type of CCTV. I have set it up to look through my front window so it can view people walking through my gate.
It seems to be working well as the motion sensor also alerts me to movement. I can view live and past footage as I used the free trial. I have now signed up for the subscription and will see how it performs long term. As I only bought the camera a month and a half ago.
I am not sure it picks up everything but it does most of the time. Connectivity seems pretty reliable and I have the camera plugged into my indoor socket so I have constant power running to the camera. Night vision is better when the street light in on which is great. It is not so good without lighting as without the street light the nightvision is quite dark. Perhaps I need some kind of sensor movement lighting too? I am still learning about this camera but I am happy with it on the whole.
Finally, I feel safer and have more peace of mind which is great.
I shall probably buy another two cameras when there is a sale hopefully.
So, I am happy with the product but its early days.

Ever so easy to set up via the Ring app.

Linked to my door bell and outside cam the only issue is that with multiple cameras/doorbells you need to buy the more expensive monthly/annual plan which isn’t that cheap at £79.99 per year.

But if you buy these cameras when they are on offer (often) they are a cheap and effective and reliable way to keep an eye on your home.

Such a great little cam especially for the price, clear images and live view seems pretty spot on speed wise. It’s pretty sensitive to movement, I bought mine to keep an eye on my tortoise Dandelion and our ferrets in their shed, it’s really been a big help. Super easy to use and set up, I keep mine plugged in so not sure about how long batteries would last but it’s nice and small, fits perfectly in any spot.

My favourite part is when it pings “There’s a person at your Dandelion”. The person in question is a tortoise but it’s a good laugh, picks up people really well to be honest but yeah, it often thinks my tortoise or my ferrets are people.

All in all, really great camera and I’d 100% recommend giving it a try. Considering getting more!

    Bargain in 50% off sale
Got this as a second camera to use with another whist on holiday. Also have alarm system and doorbell all by Ring
As always easy to set up. Picture quality is great and this has privacy screen to cover lens if you want to leave it on permanently
    For £25 a bargain

I started with a Ring doorbell in late 2022 and in the subsequent 12 months I have built up an array of 6 ring devices connected to perform various camera/doorbell variations. In 2017 I started out with two cameras from a rival firm which served me well for 8 years.

For this review I will focus on just the power cabled indoor camera.
I bought this model on one of Amazon’s discounted cycles for £30.
Unless your needs are urgent, wait for the inevitable sale in January, Black Friday, Amazon Prime Day, Full Moon Day, Rainbow in the Sky Day or whatever the marketing types have cooked up.

The indoor wired camera is easy to set up. It follows the same standard steps as all the other ring cameras.
Scan the code on the back of the camera with your phone, join your local wi-fi and sign in or create your ring account on the website. This is much easier than the rival cameras I setup in 2017.

You can then fine tune configure it.
Multiple motion detection zones, audio recording on/off, infrared on/off, night vision colour option on/off, smart motion detection for motion detecting just people and motion detection sensitivity are all standard.

There are subscription fees to view your recordings.
Without the subscription fee you can just view live/current events through the camera.
Subscription charges are per unit for the first two cameras at £3.49 each. After that you will pay no more than £8 in total a month for any number of cameras at the same location. So for my 6 it costs me £8 a month but if you pay a year in advance you can reduce that cost further. All Ring pricing options are cheaper than the rival cameras I used to have.

When choosing a ring camera make sure you select the right model.
They all do slightly different things in practice.
The indoor camera is powered only by a wall socket.
It is the only model I have encountered that you can place indoors looking outside through a window to detect motion outside through the window. The outdoor cameras on the other hand are battery or solar powered and are weather resistant but cannot be used indoors to look outside through a window to detect motion.

I use my indoor cameras to look out the window and detect motion. They work well but of course if you get heavy rain or condensation on the window this will reduce what the camera can see.
The camera can have infrared switched off – pretty much essential when using it through a window.
The camera also shows a blue light when recording activity. The only way to hide this is to put a black sticker or bit of tape over it. It does not effect the camera performance. The angle visible is very large. The picture is clear. The motion detection is good with zones that can be selected for movement although there is no independent motion sensitivity for each zone. It’s one level for all. The indoor camera is fixed position so there is no pan and tilt but with the wide angle of visibility there is no need for it indoors and even looking out from a window it covers a large area. They can also be configured to work with Amazon Echo Alexa but I have not gone for that option with the indoor cameras.

I am very happy with my Ring Indoor cameras.
    They are well priced.
    They are easy to setup.
They have a wide viewing angle.
The application to view recordings works pretty well but could do with a little activity graph per camera instead of a list of motion recordings.
    The picture quality is good.
    They are reliable.
Subscription charges are reasonable and certainly cheaper than my previous make.

This ring is very good for the price and looks great. Detects motion well and easy installation.

  7. Alice Son

We got this to monitor our cat (and other uninvited cats) entering and exiting the cat flap. It’s also a visible burglary deterrent located n our conservatory at the back of the house.

It was easy to set up. We already have two Ring doorbells and added into the app. Apart from a couple of glitches the WiFi feed is good and the image is pretty sharp, including the night infrared mode, with a wide field of view. You can tilt the camera on its base to get the ideal angle.

This is quite a small discrete item which looks good in any room. We had Ring Plans for the two doorbells and it was only £5/year extra to add this. I can now add additional security cameras if I want to without further cost for storing the footage.

The only weakness I can see is that the privacy cover is quite flimsy, particularly the top pivot and has to be persuaded with a second push to fully close. I think the more ham fisted owner could easily break it. Generally a good product though
